Scalable ODUCn Mux
The RokoLogik Scalable ODUCn Mux (RSOM) is a next generation multiplexing solution for optical transport networks capable of delivering total throughput from 200-1000Gbps in a single chip. A standard feature set and software API are common across all bandwidths to ease development of management software at current and future nodes.
RSOM provides multiplexing of any rate lower order ODUk signals into an ODUCn container. ODUCn containers are transported over a G.709.1 Flexible OTN line interface to allow early adoption of next generation ODUCn technology using commercially available 100G optical modules while enabling easy future upgrades to >100Goptical modules. Full OTN overhead processing is provided for all lower order ODUk and higher order ODUCn.
The RSOM standard configuration options include single chip n x 100G muxponder or n x 100G ODUMux, and customized configurations built to specification can be implemented as well.
When configured for ODUMux applications, n 100G streams of timesliced lower order ODUk data are received from a SAR and those ODUks are multiplexed into an ODUCn container and transmitted on the line via the Flexible OTN interface.
Alternatively, RSOM can be configured as a muxponder, where RSOM maps n 100G clients into ODU4s which are in turn multiplexed into an ODUCn container and transmitted on the line via the Flexible OTN interface.
As next generation optical modules such as the CFP8 become prevalent, RSOM seamlessly integrates the new optics via the FlexO interface, without any modifications to functionality or behaviour of the remainder of the solution.
